Outi of Cairo Workshop

This is Outi's first time teaching on the West Coast.
Take advantage of this working Cairo dancer's brief visit to the Bay Area by taking her class!
"She is originally from Finland, speaks fluent English, and she's an excellent teacher. I did a melaya and general technique private with her o nce in Egypt, and was impressed. Then I organized workshops for her in NYC a few years ago and they went well--my students liked her a lot and thought she was very rigorous. Workshop Topics

Class time: 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Check-in, warm-up, and shopping at 6PM
Class Breakdown:
6:30 to 7:30: Egyptian technique á la Outi
7:30 to 9:00: Milaya Lef: A crash course in dancing with a milaya!
From what it is and why you want it as part of your repertoire to various wraps, combos, and styles (including baladi and shaabi).

Please bring a milaya, or if you do not have one, bring a large veil. Outi will have milayas with her for purchase.
We don't get a lot of melya lef in the Bay area. Not quite sure what this is? UK dancer Candi has put together a nice online overview of the melaya lef in Eyptian dance.

Steps from the Civic Center BART and MUNI station (exit at 7th Street)

Street parking is free after 6PM, bike racks on the 4th floor.

$50 in advance
$60 at the door
